Development Officer - Data and Marketing
The Role
The Development Officer – Data and Marketing role is central to Durham Wildlife Trust achieving its strategic goals set out in the charity's 2030 Strategy. The Trust aims to deliver
30% of land and seas for wildlife by 2030 with 1 in 4 people taking meaningful action for nature. These targets will only be met if there is a step change in the Trust's engagement and reach and this newly developed role will play an important part in delivering that change. This is a time of exceptional growth and development for Durham Wildlife Trust and a role within a successful and growing team that is embracing new challenges.
The successful candidate will lead on efforts to grow the Trust's supporter base by delivering targeted activity informed by audience insights. They will utilise techniques across traditional and digital channels, engaging members of the public with wildlife and generating more direct actions for nature and climate that leads to greater support for
Durham Wildlife Trust enabling the charity to Bring Nature Back between the Tees and the
Tyne.

Function
Improve the collection and use of audience data to maximise engagement and grow support for Durham Wildlife Trust.
To restore nature from Tees to Tyne by growing support for Durham Wildlife Trust by -
1. Developing audience insight and analysis of current offering to improve effectiveness of digital marketing and fundraising.
2. Planning and delivering effective campaigns that generate new leads, grow membership and promote volunteering.
3. Creating high quality digital supporter journeys for warm leads as well as for existing supporters, maximising opportunities and delivering against agreed engagement and income targets.
Main Responsibilities
Data
- Generate, store and utilise high quality and relevant data on Trust supporters, generating insights on supporter engagement.
- Collect, collate and use data in accordance with GDPR and other relevant legislation.
- Develop and evolve the use of Google services and analysis, improve the optimisation of the Durham Wildlife Trust online and digital offering and monitor effectiveness.
- Supply data to colleagues to support financial and administrative functions.
Marketing
- Be proactive and develop innovative ways of promoting Trust support. This will include content generation, campaigns and appeals.
- Work with the team to use digital channels to maximise income from existing fundraising products (e.g. Adopt an Animal) and to test and develop new offers.
- Create high quality and engaging supporter journeys that integrate communications across all digital channels to increase engagement and income for the Trust.
- Develop and plan digital events that enhance the supporter journey (e.g. Zoom training), as well as make recommendations for and supporting face-to-face supporter events.
Reporting
- Report against relevant targets in the required formats.
- Develop appropriate monitoring and tracking of campaigns to measure success and inform future activity including detailed reporting on paid marketing.
- Provide regular information where necessary to assist with the compilation of reports for the trustees, senior management and to support national Wildlife Trust data compilation.
General:
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation and Trust policies pertinent to the role.
- To attend meetings, training and events as required.
- Undertake any other duties required by Trust management.
