Business Data Analyst
Intro
You will report into a Senior Business Data Analyst, work with a broad range of people across our business and third parties to deliver business-focused data solutions to unlock success. You will play a key part in helping us to deliver business change driven by data intelligence. You'll be involved in projects right through from discovery, analysis of data sources, creating supporting documentation and developing reporting solutions for the business customer.
Your Role
- Documenting and analysing data requirements and flows, determining business Intelligence and analytical requirements for solutions, ensuring they are fit-for-purpose and meet the business objectives
- Creating and maintaining the required artefacts to support project delivery (data source, design documentation etc.)
- Capturing requirements and creating artefacts to support data engineering teams to develop reporting solutions and visualisations, utilising a variety of BI tools
- Query and validate data against requirements to support the engineering process throughout the development lifecycle
- Using knowledge and experience to support business users with the use of self-service analytics tools
- Managing requirements, responding to queries, investigating issues, and providing answers to business customers
- Supporting the development team with analysis and knowledge of the required solution
- Investigating data sources, data quality and availability
- Actively participating in Agile project teams, working cross-functionally with colleagues from Asda Technology, third-party development teams and the wider Asda business
- Supporting the innovation of new internal / external technologies & processes
- Delivering ad hoc requests as requested by Line Manager
About You
- Previous experience in data analysis
- Previous experience in business analysis methodologies and skills, including elicitation and documentation of both functional and non-functional requirements for technical and non-technical audiences
- SQL skills to build queries to retrieve & analyse data
- An understanding of relational databases, database schemas, data types & load methodologies
- Advanced Excel skills and experience of working with other Microsoft Office tools
- Have experience of working on multiple projects/products and the same time
- An appreciation of Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies
- The ability to adapt to changing business customer needs and alter communication styles for different audiences
- A desire to develop and grow within the Data, Insights & Analytics team and bring your own ideas to the table
