Post Title: Business Analyst
SBU/Department: Library and Computing Services (LCS)
FTE: 1 FTE (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Salary: UH8 £43,155 pa to £45,737 pa with potential to progress to £54,421 pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield
The University of Hertfordshire is looking to recruit an experienced full-time Business Analyst to join our Project Management Office within the University’s Library and Computing Service SBU. We have a significant programme of change in flight to deliver our digital strategy, as well as business-driven projects and programmes, using waterfall and agile methodologies depending on the project.
Main duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping to develop the solutions to support a number of projects, focusing on analysing business data and business processes. You will have the opportunity to work with stakeholders at all levels of the business to understand the project scope, capture functional / non-functional requirements, map processes, model data and proactively capture progress in line with agreed deliverables and timescales.
Skills and experience required
The key to any successful implementation of a new system is often how well it integrates with other Management Information Systems (MIS) and processes, so data analysis and helping to define system integrations is key. We also expect that interested applicants have proven analytical skills and an ability to balance attention to detail with sight of the bigger picture, excellent communication skills specifically to produce professional written work for review by steering and board committees, and advanced Microsoft Office product knowledge to create appropriate documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications required
You will hold a minimum of an Honours Degree or equivalent level qualification or proven experience at an appropriate level. Holding ITIL accreditation would be desirable.
