Job description

As a Business Analyst you will support Parkdean Resorts to understand and implement change (both Business and technical) in a quickly transforming business. A real problem solver who will identify and analyse areas for improvement, and define the requirements of a fit for purpose solution.

About the Role

  • Build good relationships and effectively engage with business stakeholders so we have a common understanding of the priorities in the work we do together

  • Document clear requirements for both an agile or waterfall approach to development and change – this includes creating detailed documentation as well as deliverables in fast-paced requirements-gathering exercises to support a minimal viable product

  • Capture requirements for technical and non-technical situations

  • Work closely with business unit leadership and management to define project direction, system change priorities and business objectives

  • Be able to playback requirements to all stakeholder groups in a confident, engaging and thorough way

  • Responsible for documenting business processes to clearly show the difference in accountabilities for activities as well as when those activities are automated and manual

  • Carry out desktop analyses (processes, activities, reports and/or data) including a variety of techniques from the more strategic to the more practical – and create proposals and option appraisals for next steps

  • Develop business cases through considered interaction with key stakeholders, adapting style as necessary and documenting the proposed approach, costs and measurable benefits in a succinct and precise way

  • Support the implementation of business solutions and new ways of working

  • Good clear written skills to document at all levels, from business cases, through effective user stories and detailed work instructions

  • Use critical thinking and the ability to listen and ask effective questions of stakeholders to identify and ensure a shared understanding of a problem

  • Translate user requirements into functional specifications according to standard templates, using natural language

  • Work closely with technical and development teams to ensure specifications are “fit for purpose” and solutions meet users requirements and satisfaction

  • You have a duty to take care of your own health and safety and that of your colleagues, guests and visitors. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and you also have a duty to report all concerns and co-operate with management to enable it to comply with its health and safety and safeguarding accountabilities.

  • It is your responsibility to report any weakness or breach that you identify within the Company’s information systems or services (even if only suspected).

Person Profile & Skills Required

  • Ability to effectively question and probe to fully understand a situation and the contributory factors

  • Strong analytical skills - someone who enjoys evaluating and analysing data, working with varying stakeholders to provide clear documentation and articulation

  • Self-managing and actively engaged with the business; takes a balanced business/user approach to design and is grounded in providing effective and affordable solutions.

  • Works well in an agile team where things move quickly and priorities frequently shift

  • A natural communicator who translates between business requests and technical requirements, including presentation skills and managing challenging stakeholders

  • Capable, takes initiative and has proven success in tackling complex business challenges; demonstrates the ability to solve them through data analysis and business/ IT engagement.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks as well as work under pressure

  • Strong desire to deliver optimised business processes that reduce cost and effort.

  • Good technical skills with effective use of Microsoft Office products, Visio, SQL to interrogate data from databases.
