Job description

Job title: Senior Energy Business Analyst

Location: London or Bristol, UK (including hybrid)

Part time available?: No

Salary: £47,500 - £62,500

Kaluza wants to power a world where net-zero is within everyone's reach, by building the platform that will accelerate a sustainable, affordable and resilient energy transition. It's a huge challenge, but often the toughest problems are the most rewarding to solve.

Since launching in 2019, Kaluza's technology has been empowering some of the biggest energy suppliers to better serve millions of customers.

From revolutionising billing to smart electric vehicle charging, our real-time cloud platforms transform supplier operations, reducing cost to serve and boosting engagement. And most importantly, they enable suppliers' customers to drive decarbonisation with smart, low carbon technologies.

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

The business analyst (BA) is in a client-facing role; they are the translator of our clients' business needs to the teams building our amazing platform. They can straddle the operational, product and data domains, seamlessly transitioning between these or working across them as required to understand the full picture.

We want our platform to solve our clients problems, to provide them with amazing success stories, and to help them evolve their businesses. To do that, we need to understand what matters to them and how our platform can play a major part in this ambition.

Business Analysts at Kaluza are amazing problem-solvers; they take the highly complex and make it straightforward and understandable; they work within and between engineering teams to ensure cohesive and holistic feature development.

Kaluza is seeking a technically-minded BA with experience of harnessing new technologies to deliver change. In this case we need a senior analyst to work on Kaluza's contribution to an energy industry major programme, so experience in an energy utility will be a great help.

You'll be working on Kaluza's Energy Retail platform. This is a SaaS technology platform that aims to revolutionise the operating platforms for energy retailers globally. This platform has been built with scale and technical quality in mind and is the foundation for decarbonisation efforts by Kaluza's customers.

What will I be doing?

  • Eliciting and documenting client requirements and bringing these together into coherent artifacts that can be disseminated and worked on with our engineering teams
  • Process mapping and engineering, with particular focus on elements of processes and journeys that are specific to the client
  • Being the authoritative source of information within Kaluza for how the clients' business processes operate.
  • Documenting industry processes and mapping interaction points with the Kaluza platform.
  • Facilitating requirements gathering workshops; bringing together Kaluza's product and engineering people with the client
  • Working in partnership with the programme manager and account manager to ensure that platform requirements are delivered to the right quality and solve our clients' problems.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you'll have/be

  • Experience working in the energy sector and a deep knowledge of the industry
  • Several years of versatile experience working as an analyst in a technology business crossing operational, product and data domains
  • Adept at defining and shaping requirements across multiple product teams
  • Skilled at translating business needs into technical requirements enabling engineering teams to develop solutions iteratively
  • Passionate about working with stakeholders across Kaluza and its clients to ensure high levels of engagement and knowledge sharing
  • Comfortable with process analysis and design, particularly where processes span multiple teams
  • Great at data analysis yielding insight to inform strategic decision making
  • Proficient at producing visuals to meet the needs of the audience. (i.e. high-level conceptual visuals, low-level detailed visuals and everything in between)
