We are currently seeking an individual to join this team in the role of Business Analyst
The primary purpose will be to work within the Risk Specialist - Information Control pillar with opportunities to work across the whole structure as a generalist assisting the specialised areas offering analytical support as the role expands.
The role holder will also ensure the HSBC values are present in everything they do, both individually and as an organisation. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Monitoring chat rooms, audio Surveillance reconciliations and outside of working hours’ controls
- Escalate exceptions, breaches and instances of irregularities to line manager / London NFR after careful analysis of alerts. Identify trends (e.g. repeat offenders) and escalate appropriately, produce accurate weekly and monthly MI for management, accurately log surveillance activity, maintaining audit trails
- Participate in process improvement work and ad hoc projects and maintain issues log and track progress in a timely manner. Suggest and propose changes to processes; driving change and participating in system enhancements
- Ensure that all predefined deadlines are met. Ensure that MI continues to support and assist the requirements of the wider stakeholder community.
- Actively participate in team meetings. Bringing solutions / suggestions / recommendations to the table. Ensure that all predefined deadlines are met. Contribute to regular reviews of existing processes and service levels with the MSS NFR team and implement updates as to regulatory requirements.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following
- Bachelor or Master’s degree with minimum 3+ years of experience in analytical data or Markets controls role
- Proficient in MS Office (Advanced Excel to macro level & PowerPoint) along with ability to learn and grasp and new systems, tools and databases quickly
- Experience in Surveillance is preferable but not essential, some knowledge of Financial Markets beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written). Strong interpersonal skills and experience of working effectively and independently in a small team and also collaborate with global colleagues and stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight time-lines. Excellent time management and prioritisation of work tasks, Self-motivated, enthusiastic and proven rapid leaning capability.
The base location for this role is Edinburgh
