It’s an exciting time at Hastings Direct. Due to company expansion in line with our ambition to become the Best and Biggest Digital Insurer in the UK, we are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join us on our journey to the top.
As a member of Underwriting Delivery & Change, our Business Analysts play an incredibility important role in the successful delivery of business changes at Hastings Direct.
You will be an integral part of a high performing, Agile team that is continually striving to increase its output and quality. Day to day this could involve you making changes to our rating guides, running elaboration sessions with our developers or gathering requirements for a new initiative.
This is a varied and demanding role but will give you the opportunity to be close to many exciting new developments within our company.
Role purpose
- Support successful delivery of high-quality software changes across Hastings Direct insurance products, by producing detailed business analysis for assigned project(s) and in support of the Underwriting, Delivery and Change (UD&C) teams' business as usual activity.
- Manage multiple technical processes within UD&C, all directly related to change delivery
- Evaluate current business systems and processes end-to-end against user needs to formulate and document changes, producing relevant artefacts to agreed scope, cost, quality and time objectives.
- Coach and mentor Junior BAs who you work alongside in the UD&C department

- Detailed analytical abilities, inquisitive nature and not settling until all questions answered and understood.
- Ability to document requirements and process maps.
- Able to draw out the key risks and opportunities, and able to summarise succinctly both verbally and in report format
- Articulate and have ability to analyse information and translate to team members, and equally take technical solutions and translate them into business terminology.
- Excellent communicator - clear and concise so that leaders from both change and non-change areas can understand the issues quickly and make appropriate business decisions
- Skilled in managing relationships with key stakeholders
- Act as a role model, working within the Hastings 4C’s and driving quality
- Ability to provide information to enable line management or business owner to make informed, effective decisions
- Works independently to plan and prioritise workloads, projects, initiatives and outcomes.
- Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
Desirable
- Tools and Technologies:
- Visio, Drawio or equivalent tools
- Azure DevOps, Jira or equivalent tools
- Familiarity with Industry regulations
- Insurance industry knowledge, specifically General Insurance
- Experience of modelling via UML and/or BPMN
Qualifications and Experience
2 to 5 years Business Analyst experience- Experience of medium to large changes, multi-work stream platform deliveries and/or migrations
- Ability to deliver within the application of Scrum or other Agile methodologies, as well as waterfall
