Job description
Buro Happold has an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst to join the Business Support project team. This is a permanent role with hybrid working available and can be based in one of our UK offices (Bath, Edinburgh, Leeds, London, or Manchester).
We are looking for a strong team player and self-starter, who can prioritise and organise workload to meet tight deadlines. If you have excellent stakeholder management skills, you can define requirements and are also comfortable challenging them, we would like to hear from you.

Alongside leaders across the UK business, the Business Analyst will use their deep understanding of the business unit, strategic goals, operating environment, and dynamics within our global business to scope, design and build or upgrade regular, consistent performance reporting and ad hoc requests for insight or trend analysis.
Key duties:
- Report scoping, design, and development both to upgrade existing reporting and to provide new areas for analysis and review as required by the business, ensuring global alignment.
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial, capacity, work winning, and other operational performance packs – including budgets and forecasts.
- Monthly prioritisation meetings with decision makers to ensure reporting is meeting business objectives.
- Superuser of the in-house Data Model hosted on our SQL servers.
- Using the Data Model to create a significant volume of both regular and one-off reports including Power BI dashboards.
- Using data to analyse ad-hoc business queries.
- Support with report maintenance and updates when changes are made to systems or business structure.
- Work closely with the BI team to ensure alignment and suggest updates and enhancements to the system capabilities where necessary.
- Hold strong relationships with stakeholders, keeping communication regular and ensuring coordination of input and resource.
- Continuous improvement and review of toolsets including the identification of opportunities to future proof business performance through better reporting.
Your skills & experience:
- Qualification in Business Analysis and/or Finance.
- Significant financial analysis and numerical capability.
- Applied strategic thinking and complex problem solving.
- Broad experience and knowledge of accounting and ERP systems.
- Experience working in project and BAU environments.
- Experience of having operated at a similar level of responsibility, providing data in and insight to guide and support strategic and tactical decision making.
- Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Power BI.
- Ability to use or desire to learn MDX to extract data from ERP System (training on this can be provided if required).
- Experience within professional services or the construction industry.
