Position:
The main purpose of this role is to deliver or collect customers goods either locally or express within and around the M25.
- Delivery and collection of customers’ freight as assigned by the Transport Office to and from various locations and regions.
- Multi-drop delivery and collections that may involve some home deliveries (B2C).
- Supervise the loading of your vehicle so that products are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage.
- Ensure the correct goods and quantity of goods are loaded and unloaded.
- Plan you day and route in the most cost and operationally effective manner.
- Present, process and return customers Delivery Notes.
- Secure and return Proof of Delivery advice notes (POD) electronic and/or manual.
- Inform the Transport Office of any delays to or whilst at work
- Maintain your vehicle (inside and out) in a clean and very tidy condition.
- Greet all customers you meet in a polite and helpful manner and provide excellent customer service.
- Refuel your vehicle daily in accordance with Company Procedure.
- Report all accidents and near misses.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday
50 hours per week
Requirements:
- Experience of multidrop delivery and collection driving.
- Experience delivering around London, inner M25 desired.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage delivery/collection times effectively.
- Full UK driving License Class (B) Licence.
- Background working for a freight forwarder desired but not essential.
- Good communication skills with colleagues and customers.
- Vehicle weights and legal limits.
- Road Traffic Laws.
- Construction and Use Regulations.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Calm and ability to work under pressure.
- Flexible approach to hours of work.
- Applies attention to detail.
- Basic numeracy & literacy.
