AECOM is looking for a Building Performance Engineer to support projects as part of its team of experts and to provide a project and client-facing role to communicate our expertise, provide thought-leadership and improve building performance. Working on offices, residential, healthcare, education, cultural buildings as well as international projects.

About the role:
A Building Performance Engineer will be involved all aspects of building environmental and engineering modelling, including early stage planning submissions, though to full practical completion. They will be required to support the preparation of specifications, undertake advanced computer modelling, reporting outcomes and recommendations, assisting the development of junior team members. The successful candidate will be working towards chartership, and have proven design experience, delivering to quality, time and budget.

This role will suit someone with a mechanical engineering / building services degree, who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and looking to advance their career.

The applicant should have or have a passion for : In-depth knowledge and experience of NABERs / Design for Performance, TM54 and Soft Landings

Knowledge of building physics and IESExperience and knowledge of post-occupancy evaluation, fine-tuning and capturing lessons learned

Ability to give advice on low carbon design decisions at early design stages

Understanding of LEED, BREEAM, and WELL in relation to building performance

An understanding of net zero carbon in buildings and whole life carbon impactsSome knowledge of Passivhaus principles would be useful, but not essential

Job Responsibilities:
Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants for the design to proceed.

Support the design team and ensure compliance with all Statutory and Regulatory obligations.

Ensure the Design Team is kept fully informed of all technical and other information necessary for the duration of the project.

Produce all related design information, ensure that all calculations are prepared and signed off in accordance with the requirements of the IMS, relevant Standards and Codes of Practice and our conform to our internal processes and methodology’s.

Help represent AECOM at Client, Design Team and Progress meetings throughout the design and construction phases of projects.Undertake advanced IES modelling, including Apache HVAC, Part L and EPC analysis and Operation Energy Modelling

Have the ability to prepare clear concise reports and Technical notes to communicate with internal and external clients.

Untaken quality reviews of all aspects of modelling work.

Ability to work accurately, independently and efficiently, and to take ownership of projects.

Be an effective communicator and team worker.

Be proactive about self-development, ideally being close to achieving Chartered Engineer status.

Ability to assist in the management of tasks for junior and trainee engineers.

Advance knowledge of IES, working knowledge of Revit, Window and Thermo software, Python scripting and excel.

Ability to assist in training and supervise more junior staff in all aspects of Building Performance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent communication and presentation skills

Ability to take complex, technical information and explain it simply

Ability to collaborate with different disciplines including engineers, modellers and sustainability experts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in mechanical engineering, building services
