We believe that an open, aligned and progressive insurance market benefits everyone. Our role as brokers is to create specialist transactions to manage risk, while delivering economic flexibility and stability for our clients.

We deliver market defining risk solutions to a select group of clients. We are proud to be discerning. In the clients we work for, the partners we work with and the talent who drive us forward.

Programme Details
This is an exciting opportunity to join McGill and Partners as part of our newly established Apprenticeship Programme. The Programme is designed to help you gain practical work experience and core skills that will enable you to build a long-term career within the firm. You will have an opportunity to join a dynamic, collaborative team as well as learn from some of the most experienced insurance brokers in the market.
You will become fully immersed in one of our Insurance Broking Specialty Teams, and you will also have access to our diverse employee networks and social clubs that will help you to develop new connections and build new friendships, not just for today, but for your career ahead.
You will undertake the Insurance Practitioner (Level 3) Apprenticeship, at the end of which you will qualify for the Certificate CII.
Your impact
You will work closely with our colleagues based in London, New York and Ireland. You will support your team with most of their day-to-day activity, and through making sure milestones are met in line with the appropriate timelines. You will also support the team on broader initiatives, including marketing where you will be involved in preparing pitches and, in time, participating in them. You will have responsibilities for collecting, tracking, and analysing data and will be involved in management reporting.
Essential skills and experience
In order to be considered for this role, you must have a genuine curiosity in developing your career in the insurance broking market, be thoughtful in your approach and thrive on the idea of working in a fast-paced environment. Here are some of the other key skills we will be looking for:
  • Diligence: You will have a high level of attention to detail and take pride in making sure things are done well and on time, working well both as part of a team and individually. You will be able to manage conflicting priorities effectively and confidently communicate updates to colleagues and clients.
  • Curiosity: You will be eager to learn more about insurance and won’t be afraid to ask questions, grasping opportunities to learn from colleagues and developing your skills and understanding.
  • Communication skills: You will have good communication skills and enjoy meeting and working with new people
  • Client service: You will have a genuine interest in delivering for our clients with efficiency and professionalism.
  • IT literacy: You will need to be comfortable with common software (including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel), and have the desire to build your capability in these areas.
  • Character: You want to work in a supportive environment where integrity, collaboration and dependability is expected.
Qualifications
Required: GCSEs grade 9-4 or A-C (level 2 and above) in Maths and English.
Colleague experience
Our firm, like our team, operates on the basis of a contract of trust. Our absolute commitment to attracting and retaining a diverse workforce and our progressive employment practices, including unlimited vacation, flexible working and market-leading parental leave policies, are just some of the ways our firm is different.
