Bristol Wood Recycling Project
Full Time Bristol, England 23693 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

We are looking for a member to join our Collections Team, a vital part of our co-operative's business. We need someone who can do the important work of getting out with our volunteers in all weathers, to all parts of the city (and beyond), to collect wood from all manner of sources; to bring it back to our base in central Bristol, to save what's good, and to recycle what we can't re-use. The places, people, and timber loads that you will encounter will be both routine and varied. The Collections Team collects over 500 tonnes of wood a year; the Team Member will be crucial in keeping this source of wood coming on to site – and off again – to keep BWRP doing what we do.

The annual salary is£23,692.67 full time equivalent (i.e. 5 days per week).

Staff are entitled to 25 accrued days paid holiday in addition to the usual public holidays.

Additional Notes:

Bristol Wood Recycling Projectis a co-operatively owned and managed, not-for-profit social enterprise. Staff are invited to become Co-op Members once they have completed their probationary period.

All staff collaborate in the week-to-week operational running of the project, working alongside our volunteers to achieve the operations necessary. Departments are self-organising with high degrees of autonomy, in accordance with the vision of the whole, and the processes in place to fulfil this.

We all work efficiently and flexibly, sometimes between departments, demonstrating abilities to adapt to the circumstances that arise; successful candidates should expect to do the same. Occasional Saturday working may be required in the Wood Shop as part of the Retail Team. Individuals and departments are managed by peer review and coaching by fellow co-op members.

Strategy for the Co-op is generated through membership meetings and Working Groups. Oversight is offered by Directors of the co-operative. Members of the co-operative have ultimate control of the business. On passing probation, you can become an Employee Member of the Co-op. As a Member of BWRP Co-op, you will participate in decision making and enacting of these decisions in the growth of the Project.

Working for Bristol Wood Recycling Project is not your normal 'nine to five'. It carries greater responsibilities than most jobs, but also offers greater rewards. Joining our co-operative is participating in a growing global movement for social and environmental justice.

  • To provide affordable timber and resources to the local community;
