What You’ll Do

We’re looking for a full-time Bookkeeper to function as an accounting representative to serve churches and ministries. This role requires enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and the ability to communicate well with customers and team members. If you are confident in your abilities to serve both customers and the business well, we want to talk with you.


As a Bookkeeper at StartCHURCH you will:

  • Work a set schedule from Monday-Friday, 8:30AM - 5:00PM (EST).
  • Maintain with excellence, a client workload between 30 and 45 nonprofit organizations.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with each client - communicating regularly with clients and meeting organization-specific needs.
  • Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform financial calculations, such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principal.
  • Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.
  • Perform general office duties, such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
  • Access computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific accounts.
  • Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
  • Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases using specialized accounting software.
  • Reconcile records of bank transactions.
  • Give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, and ask questions as appropriate.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Be enthusiastic about using your abilities to serve churches, ministries, and other nonprofit organizations.
  • Be consistent with repetitive work and cooperative with others.
  • Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of this position by coming to work on a regular and reliable basis.
