Boatbuilders required, Full time, 40h per week
Very occasional overtime

Boatbuilders needed to join A & R Way Limited's small but busy boatyard in Lochgilphead in Argyll.
They do minor and major repairs to traditional boats and classic yachts of all sizes and types. They have restored many high-class yachts from famous yards and designers. They also build new wooden boats. You will work with the team and occasionally on your own, you will make, fit and repair wooden boat components such as hull planks, frames, decks & beams of different types, furniture & interiors, and finishing, painting & varnishing. They cover a massive range and variety of work and also install engines, engineering, systems and electrical wiring in house. You will have to understand drawings, sketches, written & verbal instruction and keep accurate and up to date records. You will also undertake general day to day boatyard jobs and maintenance to help keep the workshop running smoothly.
Requirements
- Have a recognized training or apprenticeship in boatbuilding
- Have experience in wooden boatbuilding skills, or at the least, experience in fine carpentry, furniture making or similar
- Have a working knowledge of health and safety at work
- Be experienced, safe and competent with woodworking machines and power tools
- Have an excellent attention to detail
- Have a keen interest in wooden boats, boatbuilding and boat design
- Be a good communicator able to understand and explain technical information
- Be able to work under your own initiative and as part of the team
- Be able to work at a professional pace to targets and help us to meet our deadlines
- Have a drive to learn and progress, learn from others, understand and try new techniques

Lochgilphead is the administrative center of Argyll. It is a beautiful area with a huge indented coastline. Fantastic for outdoor pursuits, walking, cycling, swimming, climbing, kayaking etc. We are next to, probably, the finest sailing and cruising area in Western Europe. Good local schools, public swimming pool & sports center. Glasgow & airport 2 hours, Oban 50 mins.
