Scottish Ministers are looking to appoint a new Chair to Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Board.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest health system in Scotland and one of the largest in the UK. This is an exciting time to take on this important and challenging leadership role, supporting the recovery and reform of our NHS services following the significant impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on society. However, this has also provided opportunities to support innovation and develop sustainable services with high quality, person centred, safe and effective care firmly at the heart of our strategic plans.

You will be accountable to Scottish Ministers for leading the Board, comprising non-executive and executive members, which will improve, sustain and protect the health of people across the local population. This is a demanding but fulfilling role, and if you think you have what it takes, we would like to hear from you.

Work commitments, Board and governance committees may be in a mix of virtual, hybrid and physical settings. Regular meetings with other NHS Board Chairs and the Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care are held six times per year.

Assessment will happen in two stages. The first stage will be your written application. The panel will consider the evidence provided at this application stage and the applicants who most closely meet the requirements being sought will be invited to the final assessment stage. The final stage of assessment will have various elements, comprising of:

  • work skills in action exercise – a situational role-play;
  • verbal presentation on a topic that will be notified to you in advance; and
  • a structured interview with both competency and values based questions.

The work skills in action exercise (role play) will take place on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 September 2023 and will be held virtually via MS Teams. Interviews will be held on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 September 2023 in St Andrew’s House, Edinburgh.
