Job Summary
Working in one or more of our laboratories, you’ll provide vital support to qualified scientific staff in a role that could involve anything from sample or reagent preparation to assisting with laboratory testing. You may also be relied on to update our donor and patient information and to generate computerised reports or worksheets should the need arise.
This position demands great team working skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to precisely follow written instructions.

Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Processing the blood donations from our donors, with the support of your supervisor and other team members
- Testing of blood samples or validation/issue of processed blood components
- Undertaking precise repetitive and routine tasks, carrying out manipulation of equipment and handling blood bags and blood samples/donations on a regular basis
- Handling blood bags and a range of equipment
- Manually handling equipment on a daily basis weighing up to 13 kgs, with or without mechanical aids, with appropriate training
You will be required to work variable hours and days, weekends and bank holidays as per the roster within the department (unless otherwise rostered within the shift agreement) with appropriate notice.
About You
Experience and Knowledge
- Knowledge and / or experience of working with computers and Information Technology such as Microsoft Office.
Qualifications and Training
- No formal qualifications or experience required.
- Demonstrates commitment to own continuous learning and development.
