Please note this is a Full Time, Permanent Post (37.5hrs)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Biochemistry Team based at University Hospital Hairmyres.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing a broad range of specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations in Biochemistry, using a range of scientific measurements and technical procedures on patient samples and providing advice to clinicians and other healthcare staff as to appropriateness of tests and time-scales.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for their own work load and will use specialist training to operate complex equipment, ass well as solving problems. The post holder will act as a mentor to less experienced Biomedical Scientists and will participate in training /supervision of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
The successful candidate must have:
- State registration with the Health Professions Council is mandatory.
- BSc Honours degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent which is acceptable for the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) / Registered with the HCPC.
Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required to do the Job:
- Formal evidence of specialist knowledge of a range of discipline specific procedures.
- Participate in Out of Hours Service
- Participate in late shifts when required
- Work at alternative Acute Sites when required
- Evidence of continuing professional development, for example, a specialist portfolio of development, attendance at specialist courses, training on new instrumentation and learning through reflective practice.
- Team Working skills
- Excellent Communication skills
- Good Organisational skills
