Job description
Working as part of the department of Immunology specimen reception team based at LRI, you will working in sorting and distribution of samples, specimen preparation which includes numbering and data entry of samples from different locations, with a key eye for attention to detail, to ensure the the samples are processed accurately ready for analysis.
Post-analytical duties include, sample disposal, general laboratory housekeeping , centrifuging and adhering to all health & safety practices.
The Service operates Monday to Saturday between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm. There may be scope for 24/7 shift working, should it be required in the future.
Two vacancies has arisen for the position of Biomedical Assistant in the Immunology department, Blood Sciences within Pathology at University Hospitals of Leicester.
Providing support for the smooth running of the laboratory, your duties will include:
- Receipt of Pathology samples prior to analysis
- Inputting of data from patient request forms onto the system
- Dealing with patient result enquiries via the telephone
- The post will also involve a number of general housekeeping duties
- An element of manual dexterity is also required

JOB SUMMARY
To assist in the provision of laboratory services. Pre-analytical duties include receipt, sorting and numbering of samples, data entry and specimen preparation. Post-analytical duties include telephone results enquiries, filing, sample disposal, general laboratory housekeeping and dealing with referred work.
