The Finance Department supports all aspects of the firm’s financial requirements from the provision of strategic support through to detailed transactional processing, with a key focus on providing excellent customer service to our internal clients. The department is comprised of a central finance team (based in London and Cardiff) plus a London-based operational team covering client related transactions and working capital related activities.
- Dispatch of bills to clients and acting as the first point of contact for client queries for invoices;
- Liaising with PA’s, matter handler/partner, arranging credit-notes and cancellations where necessary;
- Liaising with Billing and Cashiers teams daily, requesting disbursements be added, requesting amends/transfers, requesting monies on account to be applied, ensure accurate and timely production of invoices and other various tasks;
- Dealing with incoming Statements of Account, checking the firm’s systems to ascertain status of invoices, and liaising with suppliers to confirm status. If required liaising with Credit Control;
- Return monies on client account and/or refunds as necessary, contact client for bank details and prepare immediate payment forms;
- Managing billing projects for key clients such as WIP management, specific billing requirements e.g. e-billing accruals;
- Support key client relationships regarding managing bill delivery in line with client procurement requirements/expectations;
- Working with the fee-earners to ensure timely proforma review, approval and return to billing;
- Workload management via the group inbox, dealing and resolving requests received;
- Any other ad hoc queries and projects as and when required.
Candidate profile
The successful candidate must have a professional manner, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have previous office experience. They must enjoy working in a team environment. They will need to have excellent numerate skills and be highly organised. They must have a flexible nature and a co-operative and willing attitude.
Abilities and desired qualities
- At least one year previous work experience within an office environment.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Strong numeracy skills, experience using Word and Excel. Experience using Elite would be beneficial, although not essential as full training will be provided.
- Ability to manage a busy workload.
- Team player and enthusiastic.
- Professional in conduct at all times.
