Portishead Marina is the centre piece of the exciting Port Marine development comprising of a collection of town houses, luxury apartments, waterside bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. With over 350 fully serviced berths, plans to expand and a thriving boatyard with a 35T lifting capacity, it offers an ideal location for exploring the Bristol Channel with great access to the motorway network and excellent transport links from Bristol. About the role:
Whether you’ve been on boats all of your life, or have found a new-found love for boating, we have a vacancy for a full-time Berthing Master here at Portishead Marina. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who excels in customer service, has a great work ethic and a flexible and ‘can-do’ approach, to join a busy, well established marina team in a great location.
The role of a Berthing Master is to proactively support the Marina Managers in the efficient and safe running of the marina and boatyard. This includes responsibility for helping Customers through providing good care and service, operation of the marina lock gates, and to keeping site and facilities safe, clean, tidy and well maintained.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
- A ‘can-do, flexible approach.
- The ability to learn new skills.
- An ability to understand and deliver excellent customer service.
- To work a shift pattern which will include weekends, nights and bank holidays.
- The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Experience in a customer facing role with good IT skills.
The Berthing Master role includes working outdoors in all weathers as well as providing support to the boatyard team. As a Berthing Master you will be part of our core team working a shift pattern that includes weekends, nights and bank holidays. Previous experience of boat handling would be a major advantage but training, where required, will be given. A full UK driving licence is essential.
About you:
- Knowledge of marina operations is highly desirable.
- Experience and time spent on the water is highly desirable.
- A friendly and supportive team player with a positive mindset, ‘can do’ and flexible approach.
- Competent people skills and the ability to be polite, engaged and professional under all circumstances.
- Competent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
- Health and safety awareness.
- Good attention to detail.
- Good decision making and problem-solving ability, sometimes under pressure.
- You must be confident using computers and marina systems with appropriate training.
- Attention to detail when entering data and taking payments.
- An RYA yachting or powerboating qualification is highly desirable, particularly Powerboat L2.
- Ability to swim essential.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
