A unique opportunity has arisen to join our Bee Team.
The right person must have a valid UK driving licence and be willing to travel (company vehicle will be provided) to our hives across Scotland.
This can be a physically demanding job meaning a good level of general fitness is required. The bee season is exceptionally busy meaning the right person must be reliable and work well under pressure. The bee season can vary each year and the Summer can be labour intensive with longer days. It will be an expectation that holidays will not be taken within this busy time.
You should show a willingness to work alongside our workshop leader and step in when needed to present and teach all things bees in education settings.
The role itself will include but not limited to duties such as;
- Maintain and manage all honey bee colonies on private and commercial land and ensure their health and productivity
- Splitting hives
- Requeening
- Treating for parasites
- Identifying and addressing any problems
- Harvesting honey
- Keep detailed records of hive health, equipment/supplies and honey inventory
- Communicate effectively in a small team
