Secret Cinema has been thrilling audiences for 15 years, fusing the world of cinema and site-specific immersive entertainment to create unforgettable experiences. Audiences get the chance to experience their favourite stories in a whole new way and have, over the years, interacted with characters from classic titles like Moulin Rouge! Blade Runner and Dirty Dancing, which have attracted half a million visitors in the past 5 years alone.
As a member of the bars team, you will be working under the Head bartender and alongside other Global team members to provide top-tier customer service for our newest immersive experience Secret Cinema Presents Grease at the NEC in Birmingham. Playing a pivotal role both commercially and artistically, candidates are expected to make high quality drinks quickly and efficiently, all while ensuring a speedy service. To help audiences navigate their experience to the fullest, the role will also require an element of performance and character to build out our 1950s world, providing guests with added narrative guidance and support.
Ideal candidates will have a performance background, customer service experience, and will be diligent, hardworking, an excellent multitasker and be able to maintain a level head under pressure. Experience in hospitality is essential. All candidates must be based in Birmingham or the Solihull area in order to be considered.
Key responsibilities
- Make drinks to spec with efficiency, full training will be provided.
- Adopt practices and procedures taught by the bars team.
- Manage multiple orders at once, taking payments and entertaining guests all while keeping the bar neat and tidy.
- Take ownership of setting up the bar, work as a team throughout service and leave the bar spotless at the end of each shift.
- Learn all the cocktails and their ingredients without prompts.
- Researching and honing character and back-story as well as the overarching narrative of the show. Bartenders need to fully engage guests into the world we are creating.
- Milkshakes: the coffee machine is located on the milkshake stand. You will be expected to jump on and assist the milkshake team, either working the till or serving guests in a quick and clean manner. It is essential that you observe all health safety and regulations when working.
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience working at a high volume bar or festival event environment is essential.
- Experience working in an acting or performative role is desirable.
- An enthusiastic, can-do nature, with high levels of organisation, attention to detail and a strong ability to prioritise.
- Confident working alongside a team and interacting with large groups of people in a busy environment.
- Experience with Point Of Sale systems.
- Must have clear communication skills, being able to relay crucial information to the Bars Manager in a concise manner. Experience with radios/comms preferable.
- Must be local to Birmingham, Solihull or the surrounding area.
- Must be comfortable working evening and weekend shifts.
