As a Part-Time Hotel Barista, this position will be focused on making sure that each guest has an excellent dining experience by providing them with delicious food and beverage. This position will be experienced in making and serving beverages, hot drinks, and food orders, working the cash register, and cleaning, sanitizing and stocking your work areas at all times. The goal is to be the best barista you can be and take care of our guests by providing them with the highest level of service and delectable food and drinks.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner.
Be an expert in preparing and serving beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate ones that meet the highest quality of standards.
· Grind and blend coffee beans, brew and make coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, highlighting the differences between items, and educating guests about brewing methods.
· Properly handle and maintain all equipment.
· Maintain a clean, sanitized and well-stocked workspace, dining and seating area, equipment and utensils.
· Take and respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a polite and efficient manner.
· Prepare and serve food items or orders from the menu.
· Accurately handle cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash-handling procedures.
· Serve customers quickly and efficiently.
· Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings.
· Promote and recommend menu options, specials or new items to guests.
· Evaluate and recommend modifications in process to improve efficiency and quality of service.
· Be creative and recommend ways to attract new guests and retain current ones, and expand menus.
· Take inventory and order, receive, restock and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies; schedule repairs as needed.
· Replenish items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter, for enhanced appeal and organization.
· Participate in departmental projects (e.g. deep cleaning, inventory).
· Comply with appropriate personal hygiene and appearance, and uniform are neat, clean and professional.
· Complete and adhere to all required brand training, quality standards, health department rules/regulations, and service guidelines.
· Comply with all brand audits and guest satisfaction benchmark.
· Observe and comply with relevant health, safety, security, sanitation and cleanliness standards, regulations and quality controls as well as COVID-19 protocols.
· Perform pre-and post-shift duties and any other reasonable job duties as requested by management.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· High School Diploma or equivalent in training and experience in food & beverage preparation and guest service.
· CA Food & Beverage Server Training and Certification.
· Shift will be approximately from 5:30am - 11:30am, but may vary slightly depending on guest and business needs.
· Remain flexible and available to work when needed, to include weekends and holidays.
· Willingness to learn and continue to expand knowledge of food and beverage preparation, brewing methods, beverage blends, quality controls, and presentation techniques.
· Excellent verbal and written skills.
· Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, organized and detailed.
· Basic mathematical skills.
· Ability to make quick decisions and resolve problems.
· Work independently, with minimum supervision.
· Strong customer service focused; polite, friendly, knowledgeable and engaging.
· Exceptional listening and communication skills with ability to follow directions.
· Excellent physical stamina to stand, walk, push, pull, bend, lift, carry and move around the department for extended periods of time during shift.
· Commitment to guest satisfaction and service excellence; ensure that guests are comfortable and fully satisfied.
· Willingness to work in a high-pressured, fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
· Punctual, reliable and is able to begin each shift fully refreshed and prepared for any tasks.
