Job description

The Avenue Cinema, a new fully licensed luxury cinema experience coming soon to the heart of Belfast, is seeking to fill several positions for the role of Bar Supervisor.

Our bar supervisors will have responsibility to oversee the efficient running of the bar areas on a day-to-day basis. They will report to the bar manager and other senior managers, and will be tasked with specific duties to carry out during the course of their shift.

The bar supervisor will predominantly be based behind the bar counter and will be heavily involved in service, alongside this they will be continually monitoring and training the bar team, ensuring standards are met and that company guidelines are followed.

They will have an integral role in helping to create a fun, professional and safe place to work whilst meeting and surpassing the needs of every customer they greet

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail. Act as a host to greet and place customers suitably assess their needs and assign staff accordingly.
  • To ensure that all areas of the bar are set up and closed down daily as per training and guidelines, this includes ongoing supervision and training of the team to achieve and maintain this.
  • To provide guidance and assistance to all bar and floor staff where necessary, and to oversee completion of duties by bartenders and support staff.
  • Assist with the day-to-day smooth running of the bar and customer service and to diligently complete all tasks as assigned by senior managers.
  • To check on and maintain the cleanliness of the bar and related public areas throughout every shift.
  • Stock management including stock taking, ordering and portion/recipe/waste control measures.
  • Dealing one-to-one with customer enquiries or issues, assisting and reporting up the line to duty managers wherever necessary.
  • Ensuring that customer service and focus is at the forefront of every staff member’s work ethic, whilst helping to maintain a professional, fun and friendly workspace environment.

Key Responsibilities Continued...

  • To follow good practice with all matters relating to Health & Safety on the premises and pass this along to the whole team.
  • Assisting with the operation of the projectors and sound for screens, being mindful of show start times and cost-effective practices.
  • Ensure that all hot and cold beverages are served and presented in a timely manner and as per training cards and recipe cards.
  • To oversee the correct use of all POS till and ordering systems, that Challenge 25 policy is followed, and that cinema and licensing guidelines are adhered to at all times by all staff.
  • To ensure that the bar team follow correct guidelines on uniform wear and that high standards of personal grooming and hygiene are met by all.
  • To set or follow shift pre-opening plans for placement and duties of staff, observing shift timings and breaks etc in line with company procedures.
  • Any other tasks and/or duties as directed by management.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar supervisory position.
  • 2-3 years’ experience working in a busy bar/restaurant setting.
  • Experienced in dealing with front of house and full POS systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Desire to train and lead a team to deliver industry leading standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining a focus on customer service and standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think proactively to get ahead of potential problems or issues.
  • A good working knowledge of barista coffee service, product and presentation.
  • Fully flexible to work days, evenings and weekend shifts.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £14,200.00-£19,800.00 per year
