The opportunity
Shieldpay are looking for a Banking Operations Manager to join our Operations function to work with internal and external stakeholders to onboard, manage and enhance our banking and payment partner relationships. The Banking Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring Shieldpay’s bank account structure is fit for purpose and supports the business with its growth plans.

What you’ll be doing
- Operationalise our banking and payment infrastructure to support domestic and global payment capabilities
- Manage the regular interaction with our bank and payment provider teams to ensure the smooth management of relationships
- Collaborate with Technology and Product teams to ensure banking and payment partners deliver the functionality needed to grow Shieldpay’s business locally and internationally
- Work with Product to ensure payment and banking requirements remain alive and relevant as we scale.
- Onboard new banking or payment partners, ensuring all required banking inputs to automate processes such as reconciliations and payment sweeps are maximised appropriately
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance to ensure that Banking Partners meet Corporate Banking requirements for all entities.
- Work with Compliance and Legal to own and manage CDD/AML document submissions for bank account opening and ongoing CDD/AML refresh
- Collaborate with Compliance to ensure all banks and Payment providers meet all our regulatory requirements, such as safeguarding
- Set up and manage access to banking partner portals for Shieldpay employees
- Liaise with our banking partners and internal stakeholders to resolve operational banking issues and resolve billing issues
- Lead on the review and execution of banking partner agreements in collaboration with Legal, Compliance, Corporate Finance and Commercial teams
- Ensure our banking providers can provide account services in line with our safeguarding regulatory obligations and ensure documentary evidence to that effect is stored and managed effectively
- Work with the Procurement Manger to coordinate Service Management reviews with banking partners to ensure they are providing services in line with service level agreements
- Undertake annual, internal, banking reviews in line with our Compliance policies
- Work with Compliance on Shieldpay’s annual Safeguarding audit to ensure supporting documentation and information is provided in an organised and timely manner
- Own and enhance Shieldpay’s bank account structure to streamline funds flow and reporting requirements
What we’re looking for in you
- Experience working in a fintech as a banking operation lead or senior analyst
- Experience managing relationships with external stakeholders
- Knowledge and understanding of domestic and international payment schemes
- Demonstrable subject matter expertise of banking and treasury
- Thorough understanding the processes managed by an FCA regulated entity such as safeguarding
- Product and Project Management experience is advantageous
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Proactive and flexible approach to personal workload and wider team targets
- Ability to work under pressure and to fixed deadlines
- Effective at managing time appropriately and organising workload for maximum productivity
- Logical, structured approach to planning, problem solving and decision-making
- Independent, self-motivated, with an ability to adapt and be flexible in a team environment
