Working on the bank means you are not contracted to a set number of hours per week but instead work on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and your availability

The Opportunity

You will play a key part in keeping our hospital operational activities moving smoothly (which is a priority for us). Once trained and competent as our Porter you will help us to create a safe and pleasant environment for customers and your peers. We will make sure you have the best training and development opportunities and you will be involved in a variety of new initiatives being implemented to help bring the best out of you.

Your role will be varied, each day never the same, interacting with a wide range of people that will make your job very interesting. Our goal is to give you job satisfaction and provide a healthy, safe working environment that you enjoy being in.

The Role:
Assist in the transport of patients around the hospital on beds wheel chairs and trolleys

Carrying out routine pathology, sample collections and drop offs

Ensuring storage areas are maintained, clean and tidy

Transporting of equipment from one department to another

Helping with deliveries & their drivers

Supporting clinical and admin staff as required such as office moves etc.

Ensuring the medical gas stocks are kept up to date / in date.

Following our Health and Safety policies and procedures, ensuring that the location is tidy, pleasant, and safe for patients

Sweeping of leaves in Autumn months to keep paths clear

Distributing of bulk linen around the departments

Collecting general/clinical waste and disposing of in the correct manor

During busy hours, maintaining and helping patients park their cars.

The Person

As an individual with experience in a similar role, or the right aptitude you will:

Have good communication skills with a good basic level of English language (this will come in handy when you are working in a team with your colleagues, and also when you are interacting with our customers)

Possess good customer service skills, as this is a customer facing role

With expertise in Cancer care and Cancer surgery, Orthopaedic surgery (including robotic surgery), Neurosurgery, Cardiology as well as specialist Paediatric services. Recently having secured a partnership with the Royal Papworth NHS (National Health Service) Trust we will see growth in our Cardiology services and aim to expand our current speciality in this field.
