Job summary
The Catering Department has an exciting opportunity to work as a Driver/Porter based from Solihull Hospital working on a UHB+ Bank contract.
The position of Driver/Porter is to carry out and respond to a wide range of duties as requested from users of the Trust within a 24 hour period to comply with standards and procedures set by the Foundation Trust to delivery an efficient and effective service.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
Driving
- To undertake the driving of a variety of Trust vehicles (up to a 12 seater minibuses) in connection with the collection and delivery of any requests made of the services including specimens, staff, notes, pharmacy, general stores, post, ad-hoc requests. (driving licence holders only)
- To follow the Trust's HACCP process. When delivering Patient provisions
- To undertake daily checks of allocated vehicle prior to commencement of daily duties.
- To keep in contact with the control centre using the radio provided. It is the responsibility of drivers to let control know when they are dropping off and picking up items.
- To be responsible for getting directions for following day's pickups. All vehicles are equipped with SatNav and we have computerised mapping programmes that office staff can use to provide directions as necessary.
- Promptness is essential and drivers will be responsible for leaving ample time to arrive at pickups. If, for any reason, journeys cannot be made at the scheduled time, drivers are responsible for alerting the control centre.
- All staff to wear uniform in accordance with Trust uniform policy and comply with infection control policy.
- All staff, as representatives of the Trust should maintain the high driving standards which will be assessed on a regular basis.
