Job description
Our Cardiology Department includes 2 Cardiac Catheter Laboratories and a new Clinical Investigations Department. A 24 hour PCI service is already in place and EP/Devices are carried out on the site. We are constantly undergoing new developments, whilst maintaining a service in all the usual modalities. The current vacancy is for echocardiography, both scanning and reporting.
You should have a relevant qualification e.g. BSc in cardiac physiology or equivalent, plus previous experience in performing and reporting echocardiograms unsupervised.
In return we can offer the opportunity to participate in our weekly echo meeting for education and case review, and exposure to stress echo and transoesophageal echo.
We have a friendly team who are either partly or fully accredited with the BSE, and would expect that if you are applying for the permanent position, then you have passed the written exam for BSE accreditation.
Our machines are all modern and have the ability to take 3D images and analyse strain.

To perform and report transthoracic echocardiography in accordance with the BSE guidelines on minimum dataset, etc.
Outpatient lists are 10 echocardiograms per day; inpatient lists are 8 per day.
Reports for inpatients must be finalised the same day; those for outpatients must be finalised within 24 hours.
To present interesting or complex cases at the weekly echo meeting.
To escalate critical findings according to our standard operating procedure.
