We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Band 5/Band 6 Specialist Biomedical (Annex 21 B6 considered) scientist with knowledge and interest in diagnostic cytology, to join our well established, dedicated, supportive and dynamic team. The ability to work in a team is essential as well as being able to work accurately, innovatively, and independently. The successful candidate will be working alongside other BMS staff, MLAs, Pathologists and the administrative team to provide a high-quality diagnostic cytology service. The department handles up to 6000 diagnostic cytology samples annually and is located at Queens Hospital part of BHR University Trust. Key responsibilities include routine preparation, evaluation and reporting of diagnostic cytology samples. The post holder will be required to participate in all aspects of the service on a rotational basis. Other duties include administrative tasks, internal quality control and external quality control participation, supervision of MLA staff, training of new starters and ensuring continuous compliance with UKAS requirements. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
