Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 3, 30.5 hours, Diabetes Administrator within the Diabetes Department at University Hospital Birmingham. We have one post available at Heartlands Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who relishes a challenge and is keen to use their own initiative. The successful candidate will be required to be a key member of the team, providing a professional and high quality administrative service at all times.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
You will be required to work to a high standard of accuracy and be able to demonstrate initiative in planning your own workload in a way that supports the Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialists. Our team is a very busy department and you will be expected to manage their day to day admin, booking admissions/appointments, importing documentation to patient electronic records, typing letters, liaising with patients and colleagues internally and externally. You will also be required to work as secretary to the lead DSN.
We would like the successful candidate to be pro-active, approachable and supportive to both patient and colleagues, to have a conscientious approach to their work and the ability to demonstrate administrative experience and be able to meet the main duties of the role as identified in the job description.

Qualifications
Essential
- Good General Education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4
- Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment
Experience

- Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
- Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience of using IT systems
