Job summary

Health care assistant-Castle Vale Renal Unit

We're looking for individuals with or without health and care experience to join UHB to work in Castle Vale Renal Unit. Castle Vale Dialysis Unit is one of the Trusts nurse lead satellite units, offering out-patient haemodialysis in a Business Park setting. The unit currently has 36 stations operating 6 days week over 3 shift patterns. As a health acre assistant in dialysis unit your role is to work closely with the multi-professional renal team to care for and support renal patients during their treatment with us.

No experience? No problem. We'll teach you everything you need to know for this physically demanding role. To us, it's more important that you're a caring and kind person with a genuine desire to help the renal patients.

Desirable

  • Functional skills Level 2 English Language and Maths Qualification or GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English Language
  • Care Certificate or evidence or Training & Development associated with Health Care Support Worker role
  • Level 2/3 NVQ/ Diploma in Health

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working / participating as part of a team.
  • Evidence of ability to work using own initiative and under minimal supervision (
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the role and tasks involved
  • Can articulate the reasons for training/ standards of practice and behaviour and how these may be demonstrated / relate to patient care and safety

Desirable

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a care environment in the last 12 months

  • Good standard of spoken and written English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good communication skills - written and oral
  • Good time keeping
  • Ability to work with competing priorities
  • Flexible approach to shift patterns and place of work this may include working in different practice settings in different locations dependent upon service need
