The role:


A great opportunity has arisen at Hovis we're looking for a Bakery Operative to join the Erith Team to play a key role in supporting our Operations Team.


Our bakery is committed to providing a high-quality product to our customers in line with the Life Long Customer Loyalty programme.


Reporting to the Production First Line Manager, the successful candidate will be required to work a shift pattern involving working day shifts, night shifts and weekends.


You will be required to contribute to an efficient, customer-focused, manufacturing process through the effective operation of plant, equipment and systems. You will be working alongside our permanently dedicated team to positively contribute to the Short Interval Control initiative and to the broader Project Gold Standard.


Full training will be provided
for the role and you will have the opportunity to make an integral contribution to the life cycle of bread production.


Core responsibilities:


  • Operating the plant and process in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Completing documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Following instructions and procedures correctly.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in their immediate work area by adopting the “Clean as You Go” philosophy.
  • Supporting the delivery of the site’s KPI’s for Safety, Quality, Service and Cost.
  • Being accountable for the production of high-quality products that are safe.
  • Proactively drive down waste by implementing our “see it, flag it, fix it" ethos.
  • Complete robust daily plant start-up integrity checks.
  • Effectively communicating and liaising with all other departments within the site to achieve operational excellence.


Ideal Experiences / Qualifications / Capabilities:


  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • Basic verbal & written communication skills
  • Experience of a process environment
  • Strong basic problem-solving skills working within defined parameters
  • Basic keyboard skills and IT aptitude to input and access data


Desirable:


  • Experience of working in a bakery
  • Basic health & safety qualification
  • Basic food hygiene qualification
