Job description

We are looking to hire an experienced bakery and store retail assistant to work with our existing team and baking staff.

Responsibilities:

The retail assistant’s responsibilities include:

• Ensuring a high level of customer service experience when serving our customers in store

• Using the till and card machines for taking payments

• Taking orders over the telephone for orders of our products and services including specialist cakes and buffets

• Discarding stale or spoiled bakery items and markdown goods nearing their expiration dates

• Working with a high degree of cleanliness and a high standard of food handling to ensure that we continue to attain our food hygiene certificates

• Working in line with health and safety requirements

• Maintaining shop store condition and visual merchandising standards

• Stocking and strategically arranging bakery items in display cases to encourage customer purchases

• Inspecting bakery items to ensure that established standards on quality, uniformity and aesthetic appeal are met

• Cashing up and locking the store at the end of the shift

• Resolving customer complaints in a professional manner

Qualifications/experience:

• Experience in retail work is essential
• GSCEs/A or AS standard is advantageous
• A food safety and hygiene certificate is also advantageous
• The ability to demonstrate flexibility
• Effective teamwork and communication skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• IT skills e.g. experience with a laptop/tablet using Apple/Microsoft software and use of till.

Salary:

• National Minimum Wage

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 16 per week

Salary: £10.42 per hour
