Purpose of Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join PDS’ in-house Codeheroes team as a back-end developer.
Joining the PDS team in 2022, Codeheroes are accountable for the creation of client-led, purpose-built online applications which fundamentally enable our clients’ businesses to operate more smoothly and drive revenue.
As the back-end developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the core infrastructure of PDS software applications. You will work closely with the front-end developers, project managers, and wider stakeholders to build robust, scalable and efficient systems.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience as a back-end developer and would like to expand their knowledge, someone who knows how to translate commercial challenges into solutions and who thrives in an environment where the answer is never “no!”.
Key responsibilities
· Responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the backend architecture of our applications
· To write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using programming languages such as JavaScript & PHP
· To collaborate with the front-end developers to integrate the frontend with the backend
· To develop and maintain API’s and web services for data exchange between the frontend and backend
· To write and maintain automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of the software
· To optimise the performance of the backend systems to ensure scalability and efficiency
· To participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve the quality of the codebase.
· To keep up to date with emerging trends and technologies in backend development
Qualifications and Experience
· Strong knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript & PHP [required]
· Experience with web frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, WordPress [required]
· Familiarity with relational databases [required]
· Experience with version control systems such as Git [required]
· Demonstrable experience with problem-solving and using analytical skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £44,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
