Job Title: B Team Physiotherapist
Department: Performance
Location: Oriam: Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre (Edinburgh)

Position: Full time, 37.5 hours per week to be worked flexibly depending on the needs of the Football schedule
Reporting to: Head of Physiotherapy

Heart of Midlothian is a Scottish Premiership Football Club and an Edinburgh institution with a proud heritage dating back to 1874. The Club has an exciting opportunity to work within the Clubs Performance Department, as the B Team Physiotherapist. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the diagnosis and acute/long-term care associated with B Team Players’ musculoskeletal injuries. The B Team Physiotherapist is expected to attend all B Team fixtures, both home and away, and provide emergency on-pitch care of the players when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide physiotherapy cover during B Team match days, both home and away, including on-pitch care/treatment as and when required.
- Provision of physiotherapy cover of B Team players on a day-to-day basis at the training ground, including diagnosis, acute care/treatment and short to long-term rehabilitation from injury. This includes the design and delivery of both pitch and gym-based exercise programmes.
- Liaise with members of the Club’s Performance Department and the B Team coaches, as appropriate, to assess players health status and contribute to informed professional decision-making on players’ fitness and readiness to train and play.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Performance Department including doctors, sports scientists, nutritionists, and other specialists, as required.
- Be involved in conducting pre-signing player medical examinations, where appropriate.
- Maintain appropriate, current, legible, and accurate medical records on the Club’s Kitman system. Ensuring records are confidentially stored and are complying with data protection legislation.
- Within the limits of your professional scope and qualifications, prescribe medication to players as appropriate.
- Liaise with external stakeholders to facilitate medical procedures taking place outside the Club e.g., hospital-based operations, consultations with specialist medical experts and other related activities.
- Assist other performance staff with regular fitness testing of B Team players throughout each season.
- Facilitate and proactively contribute to applied research projects as directed by the Head of Performance.
Essential Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
- HCPC registered Physiotherapist.
- Advanced pitch-side care qualification e.g. sportPROMOTE, SCUMPCAPS, etc.
- Postgraduate qualification in Physiotherapy. (Desirable)
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience of providing Physiotherapy service within full or part-time professional team sport environment.
