Duties/Responsibilities
Ensuring that Stevenage site operations, specific Calibration, Controls and Instrumentation maintenance is implemented.
Responsible for ensuring that daily work requirements are met, and Team member performance standards are in line with EMCOR expectations.
Meeting with Clients daily to discuss that the team are meeting the client's objectives.
- Participate in weekly meetings to ensure that both Client and EMCOR contractual obligations are being met. Deputize for Line manager as required.
- Ensure that Safety is at the forefront of all work requirements.
- Identification of development needs and continuous improvement to meet requirements of the role.
- Utilization of current Appraisal & performance management system.
- Engagement with communication tools used for dissemination of relevant site information (e.g. safety talks, toolbox talks, PDRs).
- Implementation and use of current and emerging IT platforms for Compliance, Safety and Operation of all plant.
- Report accidents and Near Misses using established site systems.
- Undertake calibration and maintenance tasks in line with current SOP requirements.
- Utilisation of Beamex system to assist in site critical device maintenance.
- Generation and maintenance of device master lists.
- Respond to and report on daily Stability room deviations.
- Compilation and escalation of reports and plant data to Line manager.
- Proactive management of work orders incorporating Planning/6 week look ahead against agreed benchmarks (KPl's/TLR etc), and a full review of PPM for suitability.
- Lead the Generation of RCA's and A3 investigations.
- Proactive Management of EH&S.
- Generation and resolution of OOR's/CAPA's. and Audit findings as required.
- Ensure high level of housekeeping in areas of responsibility (5s radar charts, GEMBA etc).
- Utilization of General Permit to Works (GPTW).
- Attendance at Safety meetings when required.
- Generation of Internal Purchase Orders.
- Assist with Third party Management duties appertaining to reference instrument calibration.
- Completion of Overtime request in a timely manner and subsequent payment sheet submission.
- Materials/consumables requisitions after first obtaining quotes for approval.
- Cost avoidance and Cross charging (in- scope/out of scope, LCAM).
- Change Management.
- Focus on the following to embed culture ownership on concept and principles (A3, RCA, 9 Box priority and action planning).
- Promote flexibility and agility within team.
- Cross area and cross site support where required to meet specific task requirements.
- Generation of skill GAP Analysis and promotion of operational solutions.
- Self-audits and corrective actions from external audits.
- Reviewing and recommendations for modification of SOP's and work orders.
- Working in liaison with all central support functions (SMW/CP).
- Contribution to local and site CommCell/daily huddle meetings as and when required.
- Attend meetings with customers and end users as and when required.
- Identification of works outside of SLA scope to line manager (BRF/LCAM).
- Lead the generation and submission of continuous improvement ideas.
- Ensure that all Work Orders are completed within contract metric timelines.
- Ensure ALCOA + (CCEA ) Principles are followed and ahead to.
Resource Responsibilities:
- Direct reports X10.
- Management of finance.
- Management of contractors.
- Main area of responsibility 85 Process Area, to include Beamex support.

It is the policy of GSK and EMCOR to provide and document training that ensures all persons that fall within the scope of cGxP Regulated Areas, Laboratory access, cGxP equipment and cGxP plant possess the awareness, knowledge and skills necessary to execute job functions in support of the production of cGxP materials and processes in a proficient, compliant and safe manner.
As an on-going process, GSK/EMCOR will identify the necessary skills training required for colleagues, contractors, etc. to assure the business line complies with cGxP regulations. It is every employee's duty to uphold and comply with the site cGxP requirements, to report non-conformities within cGxP plant and equipment using the relevant documentation within EMCOR documentation.
To undertake cGxP training and refresher training as and when required.
Health, Safety and Environmental Arrangements:
Raise and or follow task-based risk assessments, COSHH, Manual Handling and Display Screen Equipment ensuring that controls are fully met. Carry out high risk tasks in full compliance with GSK and / or EMCOR Procedures, Guidance and Rules, and in accordance with responsibilities/ duties specified within EMCOR arrangements when appointed as an Authorised / Competent Person. Clean up areas on completion of engineering work and maintain the cleanliness of plant, equipment, plantrooms and switch rooms ensuring that the site is free from engineering debris and waste.
Person Specification
- Knowledge/experience of Controls and Instrumentation associated with the Pharmaceutical industry.
- Educated to ONC/HNC/HND Engineering Qualification standard (or equivalent).
- Open, honest and motivated personality.
- The ability to lead a team of engineers in the chosen field of expertise.
