AutoCAD Technician - Transport and Highways
The Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy team of Transport Planners and Highway Engineers in Central London, with hybrid-working and flexible in-office time. The team work on a wide variety and scale of developments and local authority projects ranging from 5 dwellings to large new settlements and major film production studios as well as office/retail/leisure developments.
We’re looking for a technician with good technical skills, an interest in good design and keen to grow with the job, with training provided. The successful candidate will be well-organised, collaborative, proactive at managing their tasks and interested in expanding knowledge and skills.
Key responsibilities of the job:
- Helping develop AutoCAD designs for the transport elements of development and street design. This includes concept and feasibility highway design, walking and cycling improvements, car parks and servicing;
- Using swept-path analysis to help check and refine designs
- Learning and applying different highway and street design standards;
- Helping deliver the transport elements of planning applications from concept through to more detailed design - this will range from supporting masterplan designs through to details for a planning application
Experience and Skills required:
- We will consider applicants with limited experience to those with a much higher level of expertise, with package matching capability.
- Desirable 2+ years of experience using AutoCAD and other associated Autodesk design software (such as Auto Track) in a transport or civil engineering/highways background;
- Experience of preparing robust, visually engaging supporting material using AutoCAD (sketches, drawings);
- Some knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets, London Cycle Design Standards and other relevant guidelines is desirable, but training will be given.
- Interpersonal skills required to collaborate with the wider team;
- Accuracy and attention to detail with ability to work within the deadlines.
