This is a hybrid role - 3 days in the office (City of London location) and 2 days working form home with flex.
Role Purpose:
- The Internal Audit Manager will support the Head of Internal Audit (HIA) to deliver the annual audit programme and supplementary work as required to manage the IA function.
- The candidate will be a self-starter with a can-do and inquisitive attitude, a strong communicator, and able to work independently as well as part of the team.
- The role requires a desire to gain experience of and evaluate Bank-wide operations, within a small, supportive and effective IA team.
- The scope and nature of audits will vary and areas audited include all lending divisions, corporate functions and second line functions such as Credit, Risk and Compliance as well as Bank-wide risks.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver the audit plan through quality end to end audits as agreed with HIA, being accountable for compliance with methodology and planned timescales.
- Communicate effectively with auditees. This includes to understand business operations, identify risks and control failures, agree relevant audit findings and value adding practical solutions, and manage stakeholder expectations and competing deadlines.
- Document quality audit work papers on a timely basis to support findings of audit work, in line with IA methodology.
- Oversee and manage work of staff working on their audits as necessary, providing guidance, technical expertise and feedback.
- Draft quality audit outputs (e.g. terms of reference, report/memo) for HIA review and agreement with business.
- Communicate effectively with HIA and team to provide status updates and timely discussion of findings, and to share knowledge.
- Log, track and follow up of audit recommendations through to closure, keeping HIA informed of progress and retaining evidence.
- Proactively support annual audit risk assessment and planning.
- Engage in additional assurance activities as required, such as support of Bank project work.
- Support development and application of CAATs and data analytics.
- Complete additional activities as required to support overall operation of the function, such as creating MI, business monitoring, developing/implementing IA practices and methodology, file QA, and performance management of more junior team members.
- Foster a culture of effective teamwork with proactive and positive engagement and constructive challenge across IA and the Bank.
- Maintain awareness of external regulations generated by the FCA/PRA, and other professional bodies, including matters of governance and best practice, applying this as necessary.
- Perform work in line with CIIA guidelines and code of conduct.
Skills and Experience sought:
- At least five years of experience working as an Internal Auditor, External Auditor or in an Internal Controls role.
- Financial services industry experience desirable, particularly in prudential risk.
- A relevant professional qualification (MIAA, PIIA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) - fully qualified desired.
