Have you just finished university and looking to kick start your career in accountancy, specifically, Audit? We are looking for driven individuals to join our Graduate Training scheme in our Audit team based in Stoke-on-Trent.

Working closely with the everyone in the audit team, from your direct report through to Director, you will focus on the completion of sections of the audit with their guidance.

Job Summary:

To assist in the delivery of audit and assurance assignments within agreed budgeted timescales and in accordance within the International Standards on Auditing (UK and Ireland).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete audit or assurance procedures set out in the work programmes in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (UK and Ireland) and the firm procedures.
  • Check client’s financial information, test sales, purchase and payroll systems
  • Create test schedules forming part of the audit file along with relevant documentation
  • Timely completion of write ups relating to tests carried out
  • Use accounting software and audit programme packs in DPC format
  • Ensure work is completed to fullest extent, seeking assistance from senior staff as appropriate.
  • Attendance at training where appropriate.
  • Ensure appropriate understanding of each client's business by researching before going on-site
  • Identify improvements in client's processes through on the job discussions with senior.

Person Specification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, 2:1 and above in a in a business related discipline preferred but not essential
  • GCSEs grades A*- C or 9-4 (Maths and English) or equivalent essential
  • Proactive approach to own personal and professional development
  • Strong team player, with an organised and positive attitude to work
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve effectively
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Ability to provide an effective, proactive customer focused service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Good IT skills and knowledge
  • Ability to reliably travel between work and client locations as required
