Audit Assistant Manager – Gibraltar

KPMG Gibraltar is part of a global network of firms that offers Audit, Tax, Pensions & Legal, Consulting, Deal Advisory and Technology services. Through the talent of over 16,000 colleagues, we bring our creativity and insight to our clients’ most critical challenges.

As a firm we help our clients navigate their biggest issues and opportunities. We aim to be universally recognised as a great place for great people to do their best work – a firm known for our collaborative and inclusive culture. And we will take pride in driving lasting, positive change in society.

In Gibraltar, we work with everyone from small start-ups and individuals to major multinationals. Our work is often complex, yet our vision is simple: to be the clear choice for our clients, for our people and for the communities we work in.

KPMG is one of the leading audit practices in the UK whose success and reputation depends upon the quality and integrity of our services – and our people. If you join our audit team, you could benefit from increased amounts of training and education to keep you up to speed with current changes in audit regulation and accounting and auditing standards.

As an Assistant Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of delivering audit engagements, from planning through to completion on a broad spectrum of B2B, B2C and G&I engagements. The role will include executive level engagement interaction and exposure to multiple engagements on an annual basis.

  • Planning and execution of audit fieldwork and statutory reporting across a portfolio of engagement
  • Project management of all aspects of audit including agreeing audit timelines, team briefings and supervision, and delivery of audit work
  • Budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of projects, focusing on optimising profitability
  • Identifying, researching and helping to resolve complex audit issues
  • Building relationships with the engagement staff and acting as an ambassador for the firm
  • Reporting to audit managers and partners on all salient points arising from audits
  • Supervising and coaching junior members of staff to help them realise their full potential
  • Keeping up to date with KPMG's product and service offerings and identifying the sales opportunities that will help us grow our business
  • Working on audit tenders and working as part of the relevant independence team on these tenders. Tasks may include reviewing global engagement records in Sentinel, analysing and categorising the records, contacting partners globally for engagement information, preparing data and drafting independence reports, and liaising with UK Ethics and Independence team
  • You may also have the opportunity to work on specific audit related projects across the audit function.

Leadership & Management:

  • Well-developed leadership and supervisory skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals both internally and externally at different seniority levels

Stakeholder Interaction & Challenges:

  • Well-developed understanding of the wider commercial background KPMG operates in demonstrating awareness of the issues facing our clients on a day to day basis

Impact, Risk, Accountability & Governance:

  • As part of the audit team you will contribute to the success of the audit practice in Gibraltar. As you develop you will take on enhanced responsibilities. Key attributes are integrity and a proactive approach to work, researching and asking for guidance appropriately.

Experience:

Essential

  • Recent and extensive external audit experience within a ‘Big 4’ or mid-tier firm is required
  • Fully qualified ACA/ACCA or international equivalent is essential. Individuals on track to be exam and time qualified may also be considered.

Desirable

  • Demonstrating practical knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP is preferable

Skills:

  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Takes personal responsibility and accountability for own work
  • Sustains a high level of drive, shows enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Seeks out feedback and development opportunities
  • Gives clear directions, positive and constructive feedback
