Job description
Purpose:
The Office of Research Services (ORS) is part of the Division of the Vice-President Research & Innovation (VPRI). ORS processes research applications and research agreements which are recorded in the Sophia database. These data are used to support evidence-based decision making in VPRI with statistics that include application rates, total funding requested, etc. Under the direction of the Director, Research Grants, the Research Data and Records Assistant role records the applications and agreements into the database as well as correcting entries in the database. ORS is also required by York University's Common Records Schedule to maintain files on the applications and agreements. The Research Data and Records Assistant role is responsible for maintenance of the ORS filing system for research applications and agreements, including the creation of files and the filing of documents. The role supports the exercise of reviewing, scanning, purging, and archiving ORS files in accordance with York's Common Records Schedule.
Education:
Completion of high school and some additional courses in administration, records management or equivalent one year of recent, related experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing similar functions. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years recent related experience with research applications in a research or similar environment, working with databases, record management systems and performing data entry.
