Job title Technical Supervisor (Audio Engineer)
Salary £21,405 (*subject to August CoL increase) per annum
Department Technical
Working pattern (hours/weeks etc) Full time, 37.5 hours per week – Mixture of late night, evening & weekend event work, as well as daytime office & preparation work.

Supervisory responsibility Technical Crew
Job purpose Assist with the technical production of live events - taking a lead on audio related production. Maintaining technical equipment inventory and supervising technical crew. Assisting with advancing, planning and preparing for all internal and external touring events.
Main duties and responsibilities
1 Preparation, setup and mixing of live audio for events from conferencing to multi-band festivals. Liaising with TMs to advance shows and produce patch sheets.
2 Assist in the installation, running and upkeep of all technical equipment.
3 Operate and programme lighting using Avolites & MA3 consoles.
4 Operate and develop live visuals using Resolume Arena.
5 Recruitment, rostering and training of technical crew.
6 Supervise a team of technical crew with the installation programming, use and maintenance of all technical equipment, ensuring that all work is being carried out effectively and any health and safety concerns are reported to the relevant staff immediately.
7 Liaise and work with NTSU staff, external contractors, DJs, artists, tour managers and other equipment users and operators when required for internal and external events.
8 Make regular checks of equipment to ensure it is safe, reporting any damage promptly and making repairs where possible. Assist with routine compliance and testing.
9 Follow risk assessments for all aspects of work being carried out and ensuring others do too.
Ensuring safe working practice for yourself, staff and contractors.
10 Engages in sustainable practices while in the workplace – accepts and follows sustainable office policies and procedures.
Secondary and other duties
1 Ensure all technical equipment stores and operational spaces are well maintained and kept in a clean and orderly state.
2 Work alongside venue staff and other event organizers to offer advice on technical requirements and how to maximize production value.
3 Assist with the development of installed audio, video and lighting systems.
4 Attend weekly team meetings to plan upcoming events.
5 Tries new and sustainable practices: whenever possible, employee tries to reduce the negative environmental impact of their work – especially their waste and greenhouse gas emissions.

Of event production, scheduling, and Educated to a degree level or equivalent organisation in a relevant subject
Understands what can be recycled on campus, and how to recycle it properly
