We are looking to appoint a second attendance consultant to work specifically with schools and across the trust to review their current approach to tackling overall attendance and persistent absence. You will work closely with our current attendance consultant to support and develop effective strategy, systems and practice; use data effectively; and develop a whole school and trust wide culture of excellent attendance.
Organised, reliable and committed, you will work with a range of professionals to ensure schools, children and their families receive the support required and ensure full attendance. It’s a chance to use your creativity to find solutions to barriers that mean a child may not be regularly attending school. You’ll also have the chance to work as part of the wider TKAT inclusion team and with other Multi Academy Trusts as we strive to remove the barriers for those most vulnerable pupils.
As a flexible and supportive team player, you’ll value a young person’s right to education. It’s likely you’ll bring experience in education, working across the 45 primary, secondary and special schools within TKAT. Comfortable in a busy and fast-paced environment, you will have the confidence and communication skills to provide appropriate support and challenge where required.
We are seeking applications from individuals with credible leadership educational experience from LA, trust or school settings, who can provide evidence to demonstrate that they meet all the essential criteria below and any of the desirable criteria.
Essential Criteria - You will need to demonstrate:
1. Experience of implementing effective systems to improve or sustain high levels of attendance within an LA, MAT or school context. or Experience of supporting LAs, MATs or schools to review and implement effective systems to improve or sustain high levels of attendance.
2. A clear understanding of excellent practice for improving attendance and reducing absence, including using data to identify issues, inform strategy, and monitor improvements. As part of this we would expect you to demonstrate an understanding of the implications of the new attendance guidance.
3. The ability to quickly establish strong working relationships with LA, school, and trust leaders.
You will be based at home with an expectation to attend meetings remotely and travel across all academies for face to face meetings. Which three days you work are negotiable.
