Our Projects, Infrastructure and Construction (PIC) team has enjoyed significant recent growth and investment, so we are looking to further strengthen our non-contentious construction offering with a Senior Associate appointment, in our Bristol office.
Your Role
As part of our Projects, Construction and Infrastructure offering, we provide strategic advice to the public sector, bidders and funders on complex infrastructure arrangements, estate management projects, joint ventures, and we advise on a number of legacy PFI/PPP projects.
We also work extensively on district heating projects advising public sector and private sector clients on the developing district heating market and specialises in connection and supply arrangements.
Owing to the success and continuing client demand within these projects, we are looking to recruit an ambitious lawyer to support our major projects and public sector and heat network offering.
As part of the non-contentious construction team, you will:
- Work for high calibre clients on complex procurements
- Build relationships with new clients and existing clients of the firm
- Develop your skills, knowledge and construction law expertise, in relation to NEC, FIDIC, ICC and other industry forms
- Contribute to team strategic planning and business development activities
- Contribute to the further development of the PIC team with the potential to lead the infrastructure part of the practice in the future
Your Skills and Experience
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have at least 2 years of experience with either major projects, general commercial or non-contentious construction experience. It is also essential that within that experience gained, you have knowledge of key standard form contracts, Cabinet Office’s Model Services Contract or JCT and NEC contract forms.
It is highly desirable that you have experience working on district heating projects and PPP/PFI projects.
You will be:
- A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered), with the ability to work independently with limited supervision. We estimate that the successful candidate will be 2-6 PQE, however we are open to receiving applications outside of this bracket.
- A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
- Commercially aware with some exposure to business development, with the ability to maintain and nurture strong client relationships
- Able to develop a deep understanding of your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client
- Able to contribute to our collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members
Your Team
Our Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team have extensive experience in development and transactional construction projects, as well as expertise in dispute management and resolution. We have a significant record of advising UK infrastructure projects, in particular in the clean energy and transport sectors including on high value complex disputes.
We work with corporate clients of all sizes - global manufacturers and retailers, major national and regional builders, and commercial land developers are regular clients. We also work with registered housing associations and public bodies including local authorities, police forces and other governmental departments and agencies.
