Job description
This is a new role, following our successful reaccreditation as an ITE provider and designed to help us better meet the new sector requirements from September 2024. You will lead our primary phase of initial teacher education, ensuring we deliver high quality, innovative programmes that enable new teachers to be successful in practice and develop the future skills they need to succeed.
The role includes working closely with primary schools to develop the vision and curriculum for our partnership, ensuring compliance and managing quality assurance processes. You will lead a team of subject PGCE and BA route/Module leaders, and work closely with our school based ITE partnership colleagues, to design, deliver and iterate high quality curriculum. You will also contribute to programme delivery and assessment in school placements and of academic work.
The Person
You are an inspirational teacher and leader who is passionate about teacher education. You have taught in primary schools and held a leadership and management responsibility in a primary school and/or in initial teacher education in a university or SCITT. You have a proven track record in critically interpreting and ensuring compliance with external quality requirements (e.g. Ofsted).
You are an effective collaborator who understands the importance of team working in achieving the vision and mission for initial teacher education. You inspire colleagues to innovate and iterate and are excited about working closely with school partners in delivering high quality curriculum.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they meet the Kingston University standards in learning and teaching, and research. By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.
