About the role of Associate Principal Process Chemist
The Associate Principal Process Chemist will conduct high-quality synthetic chemistry to agreed timelines. Operating within contract research projects, you will carry out the multi-step synthesis and process development of small organic compounds before scaling up to synthesise larger amounts of the target molecule.
You will have the opportunity to work within a diverse, multi-disciplinary project team, contributing your technical knowledge base and developing your areas of personal expertise, planning carefully and carrying out your work safely, ensuring you document and accurately communicate your methods and results.

Your Impact as an Associate Principal Process Chemist
- Carrying out multi-step synthesis, isolation, purification, and characterisation of small organic compounds
- Designing efficient routes to target molecules of a wide range of complexity by applying modern synthetic methods
- Planning and managing development activities according to the requirements of the portfolio department
- Contributing to the group's technical knowledge base and developing new processes for our clients
- Working with colleagues to deliver project plans to agreed cost, quality and time specifications
- Presenting cross-functional research at departmental and project team meetings
Requirements for Associate Principal Process Chemist
- Ideally, a PhD in chemistry with extensive experience in industry or post-doctoral studies, however, Master's degree with experience in the industry would be considered
- Detailed understanding of organic synthesis and process chemistry, with experience of small molecule therapeutics
- A pragmatic approach coupled with evidence of good experimental work
- Thorough approach to the design of experiments
- Expertise in the use of practical synthetic chemistry techniques, ideally with some experience in the scale-up of industrial processes
- Excellent task management and communication skills
Benefits
- Competitive salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (depending on experience + negotiable)
