Working Pattern The hours of work will vary from week to week depending on the number and type of musical events taking place. These hours will be worked during the school day as well as some evenings and weekend but will be balanced with quieter weeks.

Responsible to:
Director of Music for day-to-day line management and the Bursar & Chief Operating Officer, who has overall responsibility for all support staff.
Responsible for:
Contributing to the weekly instrumental and vocal ensembles as well as taking on the musical directorship and organisation of two/perhaps three ensembles across the Senior and Junior School dependent on previous experience and skills. Providing logistical support for instrumental and vocal lessons, and with the smooth running of the school’s termly ABRSM exams and the annual Trinity and LCM exams and providing additional pupil support (where appropriate) to academic music staff with elements of class teaching at KS3, 4 and 5.
Main responsibilities:
Instrumental and Vocal Ensemble Support
Depending on the experience, aspirations, and interests of the candidate:
1. Assisting in the weekly rehearsals of the school’s choirs, ensembles, bands, and orchestras.
2. Leading two, or even three ensembles across the Senior and Junior School in regular, weekly ensemble rehearsals and in their preparation for, and execution of, performances both in the school and externally.
3. Providing musical accompaniment support in agreed events as part of school’s ensembles.
Departmental Support
4. Providing logistical support to the Director of Music, the Music Administrator, and other members of the academic and Specialist Music Staff (SMS) music staff when required.
5. Supporting the Director of Music, Music Administrator, and other members of the Music Team in the planning, administration and communications associated with the exciting programme of musical rehearsals, performances, workshops, masterclass, trips, tours, and events.
6. Assisting with the provision, maintenance, and storage of instruments and musical equipment to enable effective teaching and performing.
7. Maintaining the high standards as well as the positive, enthusiastic and professional approach of the department at all times with pupils, staff and parents in all personal, online and telephonic communications, always seeking guidance for clarity when required.
ABRSM and other Music Exams Administration
8. Supporting the Music Administrator with aspects of administration associated with ABRSM and other Music Exams.
9. Helping with the logistics and running of the live and online ABRSM (termly), Trinity and LCM (annual) examinations.
Teaching Support in Academic Lessons.
10. Assisting with a limited amount of class teaching at KS3, KS4 and KS5 providing occasional extra support to individual pupils with aspects of their respective music courses.
11. Providing occasional extra support to theory and/or composition clinics as required.
12. Helping Academic and Specialist Music staff in preparing teaching spaces.

You will be automatically enrolled into the King Edward’s School, Bath Group Personal Pension Plan with an employer’s contribution of 6% of salary, to be matched by a 2% employee contribution.

To have studied music at degree level.
Proficient IT skills, e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Photoshop, PowerPoint, SIMS, VLE etc.
Good piano/keyboard skills.
Knowledge and Experience

Possess wide musical experience of performing as part of ensembles such as choirs, orchestras, bands, and chamber ensembles.
Possess a developed musical experience of leading ensembles such as choirs, orchestras, bands, and chamber ensembles (experience in all of these not required).
Experience of Music Software such as Sibelius, Logic or other programmes would be an advantage.
