The School

Allied Health is located within the School of Science, Technology & Health, alongside other provision in Nursing, Biosciences, Sport and Computing. The school offers apprenticeships; both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees (including research degrees); as well as a developing CPD Advanced Practice offer.

Allied Health is an ambitious disciplinary area comprised of long-standing provision in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy and emerging provision in Speech and Language Therapy, Paramedic Science and Advanced Practice. These areas are integral to the school and a fundamental part of the institutional strategy, with high levels of student satisfaction, strong local links and a national reputation. Allied Health boasts an ambitious and friendly team and a welcoming and inclusive ethos.

The role

We are seeking a talented and able academic to lead Allied Health in the next phase of its development. For the right person, this is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the shape of Allied Health provision in the region.

The role holder will have principal responsibility for leading the disciplinary areas and will hold line management responsibility for staff across the disciplines. The successful candidate will become a member of the School Academic Leadership Team, and contribute to the overall strategic development of the school.

The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of the Allied Health sector and possess the ability to drive the disciplines forward in order to meet the needs of the workforce and the community they serve. Importantly, the successful candidate will share our commitment to social justice and be fully committed to providing inclusive educational experiences that improve the lives of our students and the wider communities in which they practice. The successful candidate will be a team player who inspires colleagues and leads them with integrity. They will be research active, and a creative and able teacher.

Whilst a doctoral level qualification is desirable, it is essential that candidates can demonstrate professional excellence and continuous professional development in their discipline.
