Job description
Continuous daily interaction with Sales and Trading teams is required in order to make the appropriate allocation proposals and improve business profitability, within entity and specific business lines constraints. A holistic understanding of incremental business, and the impact of market dynamics against existing positions, across all Financial Resources are also key considerations.
The role holder will play a key role in guiding and controlling Financial Resource utilisation by Business lines within MSS, and ensure that MSS operates effectively and efficiently within the constraints of capital and liquidity of the entity, whilst maximising profitability.
MSS FRM is accountable for:
- Implementing and operating a framework for Financial Resource allocation that aligns to the Markets strategy and maximises profitability
- Delivering accurate Financial Resources information, analysis, and proposals to Global Markets Senior Management to facilitate decision making. This includes the capacity to understand and communicate changes either driven by market moves, regulatory changes or other events
- Driving effective balance-sheet management across the region based on asset/liability returns/costs; and overseeing the implementation of the Treasury’s funding framework across MSS’ product pricing
- MSS’ Funding Mandate with Markets Treasury
- Managing MSS interaction with legal entities’ Treasury teams and Asset and Liability Committees, in order to optimise the use of the local entities balance-sheet and contribute to stress testing undertaken at both entity or MSS level
Principal Accountabilities:
Impact on the Business
- The implementation of Treasury’s Liquidity and Capital policy directly impacts the MSS business and drives the size and composition of the balance-sheet.
- Implementation of Regulatory liquidity metrics (Basel) creates a dynamic price discovery mechanism.
- Supporting Sales and Trading teams to understand the impact from their asset deployment into financial resources, ultimately optimising the cost of capital/funding and improving entity’s profitability.
- Understand MSS’ stressed positions to optimise balance sheet and returns
- Facilitation of strategic business growth and increased profitability through generation and deployment of Financial Resources capacity within business lines and entities
Skills & Experience
- Strong technical/analytical skills and an understanding of products offered by MSS
- Background in or understanding of: Trading, Structuring, Risk Management, Balance Sheet Management, Capital Management, or Asset Liability and Capital Management
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders: (Treasury, Risk, Finance, Trading, Management etc)
- Demonstrate ability to build a broad and diverse network of positive working relationships and to develop strong and lasting partnerships with key stakeholders
- High degree of self-motivation to achieve results inspiring trust in others
- Ability to critically review and challenge policy, results, and outcomes
