We are excited to be appointing a new Associate Director of Pharmacy for Operations (including Aseptics), Quality & Governance. Working alongside the Associate Director for Pharmacy (Clinical Services, Workforce, Education & Training), you will be responsible for the day to day running of the Pharmacy, driving it forward to meet the strategic objectives of the department, Trust and wider Health Economy.
The role will ensure that Pharmacy Operational Services are outstanding and lead on Pharmacy quality & medicines governance across the Trust.
You will have extensive experience in a senior leadership role in hospital Pharmacy, with excellent knowledge of Pharmacy operations and medicines governance. You will have outstanding interpersonal skills, a track record of service development and be passionate about developing your team to deliver excellent patient care.

The Associate Director of Pharmacy – Operations, Quality & Governance provides professional and strategic leadership and advice to the Chief Pharmacist, and the Trust, on the pharmacy operational services and medicines governance and safety.
The post holder will support the Chief Pharmacist in the management of the Pharmacy service and represent them in their absence.
The post holder manages a range of pharmacy staff and financial resources within the department that are relevant to his or her role in order to ensure the department achieves long-term financial sustainability as outlined in the Trust and Pharmacy strategy.
The post holder will oversee and influence medicines expenditure through ensuring excellent procurement and operational services, and optimising the use of medicines to ensure clinical and cost effectiveness.
The post holder will have a Trust wide role in ensure the safe use and handling of medicines.

Work with the Chief Pharmacist to provide professional leadership for Pharmacy Services to the Trust and other external customers.
To develop strategic and innovative plans for the pharmacy operational services across the Trust and ensuring these are aligned to the overall Trust and Pharmacy strategy.
To lead pharmacy operational services and contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust strategic plans.
To support the Chief Pharmacist in the development of the overall strategic vision for the pharmacy service, including strategy development, service planning, budgeting and financial management.
To develop business cases and bids for funding of services and for capital development within pharmacy operations.
To interpret a broad range of operational/professional policies and national guidance to ensure that both the pharmacy operation and relevant components of the overall pharmacy strategic plans are appropriately updated.
To advise the Chief Pharmacist of the impact of the strategic plans of other services where there are implications for either the pharmacy service itself or the medicines management agenda.
To work closely with the Associate Director of Pharmacy for Clinical Services & Workforce, the Chief Technician & Pharmacy Business Manager and members of local health and social care organisations to realise opportunities and benefits to the health economy that are available from joint working.
In accordance with overall professional guidance and NHS policy, to ensure compliance with clinical governance standards in the pharmacy dispensing service and medicines management across the Trust.
